Coatings industry

Special features and benefits

This additive combines high efficiency with good compatibility in a multitude of systems and application areas. It has an excellent long-term effect at high and low temperatures. It is effective in pigmented and non- pigmented coatings and suitable for all gloss values and common methods of application. As a result of its good compatibility, it has only a slight tendency towards surface defects (cratering, haze) and is easily incorporated. BYK-093 can be combined with other defoamers and is ideal for co-solvent-free binders, which are used for VOC-free and low-VOC coatings.

Recommended levels
0.3–1 % additive (as supplied) based on the total formulation, in exceptional cases up to 1.5 %.
The above recommended levels can be used for orientation. The optimum dosage should be determined by application-related test series.
Incorporation and processing instructions
The additive can be added at any time during production. It only requires low shear forces for incorporation and can also be added as a post-additive.

Adhesives and sealants
Special features and benefits

BYK-093 is characterized by high efficiency and compatibility in defoaming all common aqueous adhesive systems such as polyurethane and acrylate dispersions. It combines excellent and spontaneous defoaming properties with long-lasting effect and high storage stability at high and low temperatures. The additive is simple to use and does not affect transparency
Recommended levels
0.05–0.5 % additive (as supplied) based on the total formulation.
The above recommended levels can be used for orientation. The optimum dosage should be determined by application-related test series.
Incorporation and processing instructions
The additive can be added at any time during production. It can also be added as a post-additive.

Home Care and I&I
Special features and benefits

BYK-093 is a universally applicable defoamer for aqueous cleaning and care products. It can be used to control foam during the production of cleaning and care products in order to make processes such as filling and pumping more efficient. BYK-093 is also highly suitable for defoaming after application of the products.

Recommended levels
0.1–0.5 % additive (as supplied) based on the total formulation.
The above recommended levels can be used for orientation. The optimum dosage should be determined by application-related test series.
Incorporation and processing instructions
BYK-093 can be used effectively in combination with surface additives such as silicone surfactants to prevent foaming during application. The additive is preferably added at the beginning of the formulation, but can also be used at any stage of production.

Lubricants and mold release
Special features and benefits

This additive combines high efficiency with excellent compatibility in a wide range of systems and application areas. It provides good defoaming in semi-synthetic and fully synthetic cooling lubricants and in water- polyethylene glycol systems such as coolants and hydraulic fluids.

Recommended levels
0.05–0.5 % additive (as supplied) based on the total formulation.
The above recommended levels can be used for orientation. The optimum dosage should be determined by application-related test series.
Incorporation and processing instructions
The additive can be added at any time during production. It can be easily incorporated at low shear forces with the dissolver. It can also be added as a post-additive.
