Product Function

These additives lead to a controlled flocculation of pigments. Bridges are formed between single pigment particles causing three-dimensional structures to develop. Through controlled flocculation of pigments, flooding and floating, settling, and sagging of pigments is avoided.

Special Features and Benefits

BYK-P 105 is the solvent-free version of BYK-P 104.

Application Information

Adhesives
Special Features and Benefits

BYK-P 105 provides a targeted, controlled fl occulation of the fi ller. Bridges are built between the individual filler particles, thereby creating three-dimensional networks. This controlled fl occulation primarily prevents settling and sagging. BYK-P 105 is particularly recommended for acrylate adhesives and can also be used in polyurethane adhesives.
Recommended Levels
0.5-1.5 % additive (as supplied) based on the fi ller.
The above recommended levels can be used for orientation. Optimal levels are determined through a series of laboratory tests.
Incorporation and Processing Instructions
For optimum performance, the additive must be incorporated into the millbase before addition of pigments.

Processing Instructions

Incorporation and Processing Instructions
For optimum performance, these additives must be incorporated into the millbase before addition of pigments. Before processing, BYK-P 105 should be preheated until the additive has good flow properties. This leads to more accurate dosing.

Note

White spirit-based coating systems or those that are diluted with white spirit have a limited compatibility. Due to its high viscosity, BYK-P 105 should be heated prior to processing so that it flows more readily. The additive is also available under the name BYK-P 104 as a 50 % solution in xylene/diisobutyl ketone.

Composition

Lower molecular weight unsaturated polycarboxylic acid polymer

Special Note

Products have limited compatibility with mineral spirits or systems reduced with mineral spirits.
