Optibent-602 is a powdered rheology additive based on modified phyllosilicate, designed for aqueous, hydraulically hardening construction systems. It enhances anti-sagging properties and provides improved processing characteristics and open time. The product is beige in color and functions as a rheology modifier. Suitable for mineral plasters, tile adhesives, dry mortars, cement-based construction materials, and repair mortars, Optibent-602 is hydrophilic and increases processing capacity. It is available in powder form.

Application Information
  • Special Features and Benefits

By developing a high flow limit, Optibent-602 improves the anti-sagging properties of thick-layered plastering systems and reduces the slip behavior of (cementitious) tile adhesives. At the same time, in many systems Optibent-602 makes it possible to reduce other organic thickening systems, thereby contributing to consistent or optimized anti-sagging properties so as to improve the open time, without affecting the setting process.

  • Recommended Use

Optibent-602 is particularly suited to mineral-based construction systems in which it achieves good anti-sagging properties at the same time as reducing adhesiveness.

  • Recommended Levels

0.1-0.5% additive (as supplied) based upon the total formulation, depending on the properties of the formulation to be achieved. The above recommended levels can be used for orientation. Optimal levels are determined through a series of laboratory tests.

  • Incorporation and Processing Instructions

Optibent-602 is hydrophilic and can be added as supplied to the dry mix mortar formulation.

  • Special Note

We recommend testing compatibility with specific high-aluminum binders, particularly after the dry mix mortar blend has been stored for a long time.
