RHEOBYK L 100 is an associative thickener (HEAT) for aqueous systems, designed to produce Newtonian flow behavior. It is compatible with a range of resins, including epoxies (EP), polyvinyl acetate (PVA), polyurethanes (PU), acrylates, and alkyds. This liquid product offers easy handling, excellent processability, and brushability. It also helps reduce spattering and is composed of ethers, amines, polyethylene glycols, and polyglycols.

Special Features and Benefits
As a result of the Newtonian flow behavior, RHEOBYK-L 100 has only a negligible impact on the low shear range and improves or increases the coating ́s brushability. It is color- and odorless. Using the additive reduces spattering during application and prevents or diminishes syneresis during storage. The additive is liquid and therefore easy to handle. It is not necessary to adjust the pH value or control the temperature during incorporation. When combined with rheology additives which are effective in the low shear range, such as the RHEOBYK-H series, it enables an optimum processability.

Recommended Use
RHEOBYK-L 100 is preferably used in emulsion paints and coatings that are based on acrylate, styrene acrylate and polyvinyl acetate resins, as well as in PU and alkyd emulsions and epoxy dispersions.
Recommended Levels
1.5-3.5% additive (as supplied) based on the total formulation, depending on the properties of the formulation to be achieved.
The above recommended levels can be used for orientation. Optimal levels are determined through a series of laboratory tests.

Incorporation and Processing Instructions
Addition under stirring ensures optimum distribution and the best possible effectiveness and reproducibility in applications.
RHEOBYK-L 100 is suitable for adding to the millbase, to the letdown product, or as a post-additive to retroactively adjust the rheological properties.
