Bioban™ O-45, previously sold as SKANE M-8 Microbicide, is a highly effective industrial mildewcide recommended for coatings, latex and solvent-based paints, semitransparent and solid stains, building materials, including elastomeric roof and wall coatings, caulks, sealants, joint cements, spackling, stucco, grout, wallpaper pastes, adhesives, aqueous adhesives, tackifiers, and leather. BIOBAN O 45 provides broad-spectrum protection against fungi (yeast and mold) during manufacture and storage and offers dry-film protection against mold and mildew after application. It is soluble in most organic solvents and oils but only slightly soluble in water.

DOWICIDE 1E ANTIMICROBIAL, DuPont’s o-phenylphenol brand, is highly soluble in organic solvents and oils but only slightly soluble in water. It is compatible with anionic emulsifiers but typically incompatible with other surfactants. Effective against a wide range of organisms, including Pseudomonas spp., Mycobacterium spp., molds, and fungi, it is used in metalworking fluids to control spoilage and preserve ceramic glazes, adhesives, and leather articles. Its balanced solubility characteristics enhance its versatility in industrial applications.
