- Product Application
AmicalTM 48 inhibits the growth of many mircobes associated with odors, staining, discoloration, and general biodeterioration. AmicalTM 48 can be used for the preservation of paper and paperboard, adhesives, caulks, pigment dispersions, inks, slurries, adhesives, caulks, sealants, as well as non-wovwns, rubber, plastics and wood during storage and use.
The active ingredient in AmicalTM 48 has a broad spectrum efficacy and excellent retention in treated articles due to its low water solubility, making it an excellent dry-film fungicide. Under most use conditions, AmicalTM 48 will not adversely affect product physical properties or performance and should not impart odor or color to most final products.
The appropriate dose of AmicalTM 48 depends on several factors: raw materials, microbial load, pH,
estimated storage time. Good manufacturing practices can help optimize effectiveness.
PAPER AND PULP
Mold Inhibition in Paper and Paperboard.
AmicalTM 48 inhibits fungal growth which causes discoloration, odor and degradation in Paper and Paperboard. AmicalTM 48 may be applied to the white water or stock.
PAPER PRODUCTION
(NOT FOR USE IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA)
AmicalTM 48 inhibits fungal growth in pulp, paper mills, and the preservation of additive system (i.e.pulp, pigment slurries, alum, emulsions, adhesives, defoamers, polymers, and paper products). This product is not cleared for use in the manufacture of paper and paperboard products that come in contact with food.
Badly fouled systems must be cleaned before treatment ls begun. Apply at a point in the system where the product will be uniformly distributed.
PRESERVATION IN PAPER PLANT STORAGE
(NOT FOR USE IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA)
AmicalTM 48 is added directly to the material to be preserved prior to manufacturing into the finished product, i.e., pulp, alum, broke, polymers, defoamers, emulsions, adhesives, paper mill coating, pigment, and slurries. The dosage rate will depend upon the material to be preserved and the storage time.

Storage & Handling
- Handling Information
Based on the toxicological studies, the principal hazard of AMICALTM Preservatives is the possible irritation which would result from accidentally getting them in the eyes. Wear appropriate eye protection (goggles) whenever handling AMICALTM Preservatives. The use of gloves is recommended whenever the powders or dispersions are handled. This practice helps to prevent inadvertent transfer of AMICAL from the hands to the eye. If on the skin, take off contaminated clothing. Rinse skin immediately with plenty of water for 15-20 minutes. Call a poison control center or doctor for treatment advice. Wash the exposed area immediately with soap and water.
