BYK-W 995 is a wetting and dispersing additive designed for filled unsaturated polyester and epoxy systems. It enhances the dispersion and wetting properties of these resin systems, making it suitable for various processing methods, including pultrusion. This additive is compatible with epoxies and unsaturated polyesters (UPE), and it functions as both a dispersant and a wetting agent. Available in liquid form, it helps prevent filler settling and improves the overall performance of filled resin systems.

Chemical Family: Organophosphates

Compatible Polymers & Resins: Epoxies (EP), Unsaturated Polyester (UPE)

Processing Methods: Pultrusion

Use Level
0.5 - 2% additive (based on the resin for viscosity stabilization in BMC), 1 - 2% additive (based on the fillers for wetting and dispersing)
Product Applications

SMC, BMC, pultrusion
Special Features and Benefits

Wetting and dispersing additive for LP/LS and highly filled epoxy formulations. Also suitable for viscosity stabilization in BMC.

Recommended Use:

  • LP and Class A formulations
  • LS formulations
  • Epoxy systems
  • Pultrusion
  • Viscosity stabilization BMC

Recommended Levels

  • 1-2% additive (as supplied) based on the fillers for wetting and dispersing.
  • 0.5-2% additive (as supplied) based on the resin for viscosity stabilization in BMC.

The above recommended levels can be used for orientation. Optimal levels are determined through a series of laboratory tests.
Incorporation and Processing Instructions: BYK-W 995 should be added to the resin mixture prior to homogenization and the addition of the fillers/pigments.
