DISPERBYK® 116 is an acrylate copolymer with pigment-affinic groups, designed for use in solventborne and solventless coatings, as well as pigment concentrates. It is particularly effective in wood coatings, offering high pigment loading, excellent leveling, and high color strength. This additive enhances transparency and provides a high gloss finish, while reducing viscosity and improving pigment dispersion. DISPERBYK® 116 is suitable for pigment manufacturing processes and functions as both a wetting agent and dispersant, improving the performance and efficiency of coating formulations.

Product Function
  • These high molecular weight additives deflocculate pigments through steric stabilization of the pigments.
  • They provide equal electrical charge to pigments and thus avoid additionally possible co-flocculation of pigments that are not equally charged.
  • Due to the small particle sizes of the deflocculated pigments, high gloss is achieved and color strength improved.
  • Additionally, transparency of transparent pigments and hiding power of opaque pigments are increased.
  • These products reduce viscosity, subsequently, leveling is improved and higher pigment loading is possible.
