Printing Inks
Special Features and Benefits
BYK-044 is recommended as a millbase defoamer, to defoam aqueous pigment concentrates and for overprint varnishes.
Recommended Levels
0.05-0.5% additive (as supplied) based on total formulation.
0.2-2% additive (as supplied) in the pigment concentrates.
The above recommended levels can be used for orientation. Optimal levels are determined through a series of laboratory tests.
Incorporation and Processing Instructions
Due to its high incompatibility, the defoamer must be incorporated at high shear forces to ensure a good distribution. Otherwise defects may occur in the system.Household, Industrial, and Commercial Cleaning Agents
Special Features and Benefits
BYK-044 is a silicone-containing defoamer for aqueous care products and cleaning agents, which can demonstrate its considerable defoaming effect already during production.
This effect is maintained after application.
Recommended Levels
0.1-0.3% additive (as supplied) based on the total formulation.
The above recommended levels can be used for orientation. Optimal levels are determined through a series of laboratory tests.
Incorporation and Processing Instructions
The additive is preferably added at the start of formulation, however it can also be used at any stage of manufacture. If possible, due to its high incompatibility, ensure sufficiently high shear forces are applied during incorporation.

Storage & Handling
- Storage Conditions
Storage and transportation between 0°C and 40°C. Temperature-sensitive emulsion. If the temperature has exceeded or fallen below the recommended range, the product has to be tested before use and, if necessary, be re-emulsified at room temperature.
