Printing Inks and Overprint Varnishes
Special Features and Benefits
The additive is recommended for defoaming aqueous printing inks and overprint varnishes; it can also be used in pigment concentrates and has a good spontaneous defoaming effect. BYK-1719 is very effective even at a low dosage, with only a low cratering tendency and a high efficiency. The additive is VOC-free, contains no glycols and has a good shelf life.
Recommended Levels
0.1-0.5% additive (as supplied) based on the total formulation.
The above recommended levels can be used for orientation. Optimal levels are determined through a series of laboratory tests.
Incorporation and Processing Instructions
The additive can be incorporated during any stage of the production process. As a result of its high activity, the defoamer must be incorporated at high shear forces to ensure a good distribution and to avoid defects in the system.
