Special Features and Benefits

BYK-UV 3530 is a silicone surfactant and accumulates at the coating/substrate interface in aqueous, radiation-curable systems. Its acrylic functionality enables it to be incorporated in the polymer network and therefore to be permanently anchored to the surface, thereby preventing migration of the silicone surfactant. BYK-UV 3530 improves the substrate wetting due to a considerable reduction in surface tension. In non-aqueous, radiation-curable systems it orientates itself at the coating/air interface where it improves leveling.
Recommended Use
BYK-UV 3530 is particularly recommended for aqueous, radiation-curable printing inks and overprint varnishes. It has a limited application in non-aqueous systems.
Recommended Levels
0.2-1% additive (as supplied) based upon total formulation.
The above recommended levels can be used for orientation. Optimal levels are determined through a series of laboratory tests.
Incorporation and Processing Instructions
The additive can be incorporated during any stage of the production process, including post-addition.
