Functional Additives

BYK-P 105 is a controlled flocculating wetting and dispersing additive for solvent-borne and solvent-free adhesives and ambient-curing resin systems. It stabilizes fillers and is the solvent-free version of BYK-P 104.

BYKANOL-A is an anti-gelling additive for solvent-borne coatings. It prevents viscosity increases in air-drying and baking coatings, gelling during long-term storage, and skin formation in oxidative-drying systems. It is suitable for post-addition.

BYK-Synergist 2100 is a pigment synergist for solvent-borne and solvent-free coating systems. It enhances the performance of polymeric wetting and dispersing additives, particularly in stabilizing pigments like phthalocyanine blue, phthalocyanine green, organic violet pigments, and carbon blacks. It provides good wetting properties and functions as a synergist to improve pigment dispersion. The product is in powder form and is used in both solventborne and solventless & high solids coatings.

BYK-394 is a polyacrylate-based surface additive for solvent-borne coil coatings and wood and furniture coatings. It improves leveling, enhances tape release, and is OH-functional.

BYK-355 is a polyacrylate-based surface additive for solvent-borne coating systems. It enhances leveling in medium-polarity to polar systems, offering good leveling properties. The additive provides thermal stability and is in liquid form, functioning as a leveling agent in solventborne coatings.

BYK-S 706 is an additive designed to enhance leveling and deaeration in unsaturated polyester, epoxy, and polyurethane (PUR) systems. It is a liquid additive compatible with epoxy, polyurethane, and unsaturated polyester resins. This additive functions primarily as a leveling agent, ensuring smooth surface finishes and aiding in the removal of air bubbles from the system. It is also listed in regulatory chemical inventories like DSL (Canada).

Ceraflour® 921 is a micronized organic polymer designed to impart a matte finish to solvent-borne and aqueous coatings. It enhances surface properties by improving scratch resistance, anti-burnishing, and metal marking resistance. This additive is exclusively available in the North American market.

Laponite RD is insoluble in water but hydrates and swells to form clear, colorless colloidal dispersions. At concentrations of 2% or greater in water, it produces highly thixotropic gels, making it an ideal gelling agent for a variety of applications. This versatile ingredient is used in ceramic glazes, surface coatings, waterborne coatings, and oilfield applications. It also functions as a texturizing agent in agrochemicals and as a cleaning agent in household and industrial cleaners. Due to its hygroscopic nature, Laponite RD can enhance the formulation's viscosity and improve stability in various systems.

BYK-P 104 S is a controlled flocculating wetting and dispersing additive for solvent-borne, medium- to high-polarity coatings. It prevents flooding and floating of titanium dioxide in combination with colored pigments and contains silicone to enhance flooding and floating behavior.
